For parents of high school and college students

Here's How To Help Your "Kid" Finally Get Direction For Their Future

Get the clarity, confidence, and a clear roadmap your student needs, at a price you choose.

Dear Parent,

If your teen or college student:

  • Would benefit from getting some direction

  • Is feeling unsure about choosing the right path

  • Doesn't know how to connect their natural strengths to the best field of study

  • Or if you're feeling uncertain about their future, especially with how AI is reshaping the job market…

If any of these true, you're not alone.

More families than ever are wondering:

“Do we have a plan… or just hoping this works out?”

Here's what I've seen again and again...

When students know what they're naturally "good at", and when they can match their strengths to a clear, realistic direction, decisions stop feeling random…and their confidence rises.

That’s exactly what this process is designed to uncover.

The Program Explained

I’d like to offer your student an opportunity to take the Highlands Ability Battery and finally discover where they really shine, so they can make the best future decisions.

This isn’t a personality quiz.

It’s not a general interest survey.

The Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) is an exclusive online assessment that objectively measures your student's true abilities with incredibly accuracy

This assessment uses "brain games" that mimic tasks that are done in various careers, measures your student's strengths, and matches them to the best fields to pursue.

Here's how it works:

  • Your student completes the assessment online

  • They receive a personalized abilities report that will reveal where your student truly shines

  • We’ll meet for a live family feedback session (via Zoom) where I translate the results into:

    • Real strengths your student can finally trust

    • Career and field matches with long-term staying power

    • Clear next steps on what to do and how to think about the future

The Cost? Pay What You Want

Because the Highlands Ability Battery is an exclusive assessment, if you look online, the cost is typically around $450+.

But because direction is elusive for many students, I want to make this affordable for you and your family.

Too many families delay clarity because:

  • They’re unsure if something will work

  • They’ve already spent thousands guessing

  • Or they’re afraid of paying for “another thing” that doesn’t help

So instead of putting up a high price barrier, I’ve structured this to help as many students as possible.

To give your student the gift of direction, for a small amount of time, I'm offering this assessment and feedback session at a price that YOU choose to pay. (minimum $30). Absolutely no catch!

Highlands Ability Battery Overview

Who Am I?

Hi, my name is Richard Harris 👋

A few years back, I was a high school counselor, helping hundreds of students think through their futures and next steps.

Today, I’m the Director of Recruiting at a multi-billion-dollar company, where I lead the team that hires thousands of people every year, including college interns, recent graduates, and early-career professionals (here's my LinkedIn in case you want to verify 😉).

So I’ve seen this process from both sides.

I’ve encouraged students to go to college, trade schools, gap year programs, etc.

I’ve helped students course-correct after their initial plan didn’t deliver what they’d hoped.

And I've also been directly responsible for hiring individuals.

Today, I work with a select number of students, where I help them to understand how to align their innate abilities and confidently develop a solid plan for their future.

Parents routinely tell me my background is unique because I understand how abilities translate to careers, and as a hiring leader, I know the exact steps students should take in order to best position themselves as they transition from school to work.

I’d love the opportunity to give your student the direction they need!

Frequently Asked

Questions

How is the Highlands Ability Battery different from other career tests?

Most tests ask students about their interests or personality, and the answers students provide are based on their opinions of themselves. The problem? Students don’t know themselves as well as they think, and they haven't been exposed to enough opportunities to form a reliable picture of who they are.

This is why many students feel underwhelmed when they take basic career assessments.

The Highlands Ability Battery measures a student’s abilities by taking them through targeted worksamples that mimic tasks done in real world jobs.

The results aren't based on what they think about themselves. They are based on what they objectively do well. The results reveal what they’re naturally wired to do, then we connect these to the best future path.

Is this only for students who are in or headed to college?

Not at all! In today’s world, not every student needs a 4-year degree. I’ve worked with students heading straight into the workforce, pursuing 2-year programs, or considering trade schools.

Whether your student is in high school (10th grade or later), college-aged, or even a few years beyond, this process will give them clarity and direction.

I can really pay what I want for this? There's got to be a catch.

Yes, it truly is pay what you want. There’s no catch and no hidden upsells.

I’ve chosen this model for one reason: I want as many students as possible to get real direction, not just the families who can easily afford traditional coaching fees.

That said, this isn’t a “discount” or a lightweight experience. The Highlands Ability Battery is a research-backed assessment, and your session includes thoughtful analysis and personalized guidance: exactly the same care and depth I’d provide at a fixed rate.

I trust parents to contribute what feels fair for their family and for the value their student receives. Most families do.

This approach simply removes a financial barrier without reducing the quality of the work.

If this helps your student gain clarity and confidence about their future, that’s the outcome that matters most.

Tell me more about your professional background...

I’m one of the few professionals who has sat on both sides of the decision-making table.

I've worked as a high school counselor, guiding students through moments of uncertainty about their future. And I'm also a hiring director at a multi-billion-dollar company, where I am responsible for hiring thousands people, including students into internships and their first jobs.

That experience means I don’t just know what looks good on paper. I know what actually matters in the real world. I’ve seen firsthand what employers value, what sets students apart, and where they often fall short.

Now I use that insight to help families make smarter, more confident decisions before time and tuition are wasted on a path that doesn’t fit.

How do you work with students along with your full-time job?

A few years ago, I was a high school counselor. Today, I lead the hiring team at a multi-billion-dollar organization, giving me a front-row seat to how careers actually unfold in the real world.

My passion for helping students find clarity and direction has stayed with me every step of the way.

I intentionally work with a limited number of students in the evenings and on weekends. This isn’t something I squeeze in, it’s a focused, purpose-driven commitment that allows me to give families thoughtful, unrushed attention.

Many parents appreciate that I bring both perspectives to the table: the guidance of an educator who genuinely cares about students, and the insight of a hiring leader who sees what skills and strengths truly matter long-term.

As one parent put it, “You don’t just teach theory...you help students make decisions that hold up in the real world.”

Is this helpful even if my student already has a major or career in mind?

Yes. In fact, many students use this to confirm they’re on the right path or to discover a better-fitting one before investing more time or money. It often brings clarity, confidence, and alignment with how they’re naturally built to succeed.

Is it possible to work with you after receiving the results from the Highlands Ability Battery?

For sure! Some families want to work together for a period of time after receiving the Highlands results.

During the coaching process, I layer in AI and job market trends (insights I personally research) to help you see which careers are fading, which are evolving, and which are still worth pursuing.

In addition, we discuss specific strategies your students should employ and questions they should ask to make the best decisions.
